There is no browser configuration option to limit the size of a "dropdown" list and display blank entries instead.

IE has a different code interpreter to Opera.
You could try to submit your page to "http://validator.w3.org/" and correct ALL the errors reported
but if the "dropdown" code is written is javascript then it still may not work.
P.S. it could also be a problem with displaying the content of the list as in language/font issues - but who can tell?
